Top Houseplants: Sansevieria
Most everyone knows that
plants clean our air, but NASA studies prove that Sansevieria is one of the most
efficient eliminators of harmful gasses such as toluene, xylene, and
formaldehyde, which are found in carpeting, furniture, adhesives, etc.
Often called “Mother-in-Law’s Tongue” or “Snake Plant”, nothing but good comes from Sansevieria. It is often given as a good luck gift in the East, and lives happily for years with little care and little light.
A little fertilizer once yearly, a little water to the soil weekly, and an occasional wipe of the leaves is all it needs. It makes “babies” which sprout out beside the parent, and when the plant is too dense, it should be repotted in a slightly larger container.
